Read your gas usage remotely too! Our Pulse Output Gas Meters operate like a normal gas meter. They also have the ability to be read remotely. For every cubic foot of gas that is metered, this gas meter produces an electrical pulse. The pulse output wires can be extended up to 10,000 ft. The pulses can be measured and counted by our EKM Omnimeter Pulse v.4, which is our new pulse counting electric meter. This pulse counting meter has the ability to count pulses from up to three pulse-output devices. It also has the ability to control up to two relay switches. This allows you to turn thing on and off remotely.

When connected to a v.4 Omnimeter, the gas meter can send pulse data the cloud with our EKM Push3 data system. The Push3 sends all of your meter data to our cloud database and inserts it into your personal account, where you can access it for free. In other words, with this system you can easily monitor gas usage, at an unlimited number of sites around the world, for free.

Encompass.io is our free online meter management platform for monitoring data, managing meters, generating bills, and more. It is designed specifically for people who are remotely reading their meters via the Push3 system. This platform can be used to visualize data on customizable dashboards, visualize cost, monitor trends, group meters, and a lot more. Each meter and meter group in Encompass can also be set up to email you, and/or your tenant, PDF bills. Here is a sample PDF gas bill:

EKM Widget

You can use this meter to measure natural gas, gaseous propane (not liquid), air, or any other non-corrosive gas. We do not recommend that this meter be used to meter Hydrogen.

Simple 2-wire connection between gas meter and kWh meter.

No additional power source is required.

Pulse count can be read remotely using the free, remote reading, Encompass.ioEKM Dash desktop software, or EKM Widget.

Very reasonably priced gas meter, even if the pulse output is not used.

1 Pulse Per Cubic Foot (approx. 1 pulse per 0.0283 cubic meter).

Ask a Question
  • It says 3/4" Pulse Output Gas Meter - APGM-075-CF. This is a great gas meter that can be read locally, or can be set up to be read remotely when paired with an Omnimeter Pulse v.4 and an EKM Push3 gateway Will it still read remotely if paired with an Omnimeter Pulse v.3 and an EKM Push 3 gateway? I have the Pulse v.3

Hello, the v.3 Omnimeters (Omnimeter I v.3 and Omnimeter II v.3 UL) do not have the ability to count pulses from your gas meter (or water meter if you had one)

Only the v.4 and v.5 Omnimeters have the ability to count pulses (from up to 3 separate pulse output devices) (Omnimeter Pulse v.4, Omnimeter Pulse v.4 UL, and Omnimeter HV v.5)

So, sorry your v.3 Omnimeter will not work to count the pulses from your gas meter.

  • I want to submeter a 1 ' gas line. that serves a single gas appliance. I am in Toronto Canada . what meter do you recommend for our climate? I will be installing on a flat roof of a commercial building, will the 3/4 inch meter be sufficient?

Its best to size your gas meter based on the flow rate of all of your appliances downstream of the gas meter.  It is common to have a 3/4" gas meter upstream with 1.0" gas lines downstream of the gas meter, this is because the gas pressure is very low and in order to avoid friction losses of the gas flowing in the pipes, the long distances are ideally covered by larger diameter pipe.

So all of that is to say, you may be OK, installing a 3/4" gas meter on a 1" gas pipe, but to know for sure you would add up the flows of all appliances downstream of the gas meter.   The APGM-075-CF gas meter has a maximum flow-rate of 212 ft³/hr which translates to a maximum Natural Gas flow rate or 219,420 BTU/hr  or a maximum Propane flow rate of 527,456 BTU/hr at 60ºF

  • Have two questions, can the EKM APGM 075 CF be mounted outside, how do I read my meter? An example would be great.

Yes, the EKM APGM-075-CF gas meter can be mounted outside.  It should be mounted in a well ventilated location.  You can read the gas meter either on the face or by using the pulse output connected to a pulse counter (we supply either the Omnimeter Pulse v.4 or the 8 digit pulse counter).  The value per pulse is 1 cubic foot of gas per pulse.

If you are reading on the face then there is a decimal place before the last digit.  2345678.9 cubic feet for example.
