Wire Gauge:  For use on wire that is 2 AWG or smaller. It is best to measure your wire diameter in millimeters, rather than use the AWG gauge. This is because the insulation thickness varies materially from one wire manufacturer to the next. It is much better to oversize your CT than to undersize it.

These CTs are very compact and can measure the current used in the majority of residential electrical systems. These CTs are designed to be used in conjunction with our Omnimeter line of electric meters for any load from 1/4 amp to 200 amps.

These CTs are so easy to install you may see an overall savings in reduced labor costs to offset the increased price of the split core format.

These are very compact and economical for their level of accuracy(0.1% which just a few watts). They have 7518 internal turns, creating a 26.6 mA output at max. amperage.

The CTs will fit on up to 400 MCM insulated wires. It is a good idea to measure your wires before selecting a CT model to be sure that they will fit.

  • Use 1 CT for 120 volt single phase North American, or 230 volt 2-wire foreign systems
  • Use 2 CTs for 120/240 volt single phase systems
  • Use 2 CTs for 3-phase 3-wire systems (no neutral)
  • Use 3 CTs for 3-phase 4-wire systems

These CTs are UL and cUL Recognized and are approved for use with our UL listed meters, to be a complete UL Listed meter install.

Each CT has a unique serial number, is individually tested, and indicates the correct orientation of the CT in relation to the load of the electrical system being metered.

  • how long are the leads on the CTs?

    Our CTs come with 6 foot leads. 

    If you are considering extending the lenght of the CT wires:

    CTs with extended wire length lose about 1% accuracy every 50’ of extension.  We cannot certify accuracy when you extend the length of the CT wires.  It is ideal to locate the meter and CTs at the power system you are monitoring and then you can go long distance with the RS485 communications – USB, iSerial, Push, etc., if applicable.  Of course if the 1% difference is not an issue for your situation then extending the CT wires may work fine for you.

    If you must extend your CT wires, I would recommend at the very least, that you solder the wire leads together to get the most solid connection possible.

    I would not extend the length of the CT wires if accuracy is a main concern (revenue grade accuracy or billing).  If you are using your meter as a monitoring tool only it should be fine.

  • Can you run multiple wires through these as long as they are in phase compatible..

    Yes, you can pass multiple wires from the same phase through a single Current Transformer.  The amperages of all wires passing through the CT in this case will add to eachother.
