SlipSlate: marina software with EKM meter readings

Marina management software that turns your EKM meter readings into electricity usage for the boat in each slip
SlipSlate is web software for marinas: a slip map, seasonal and transient stays, customers, invoices and meter readings, in one place.
Connect your EKM Push account and SlipSlate reads your meters every hour, then shares the electricity used between the boats that were in each slip, on the dates they were there. No reading sheets, no typing.
How the EKM connection works
With the EKM connection, your meters stop being something staff walk the docks to read.
- Connect once. Paste your EKM Push key in Settings. SlipSlate checks with EKM that the key works before saving it. The key is stored encrypted, never shown again, and erased when you disconnect. A key covering only your marina's meters is the recommended kind.
- Find your meters. SlipSlate lists every meter your key can access, with its latest total. Tick the ones that are yours, name each pedestal, and say which slips it serves. Meters can also be added by number, with an opening reading.
- Readings every hour. SlipSlate reads each meter's latest total from EKM once per hour. Totals are cumulative, so a missed hour loses nothing: usage is the difference between two readings.
- Usage goes to the right boat. Because each meter is linked to its slips, SlipSlate shares the usage between the customers who were in the slips, by date. A reading becomes a figure against the right boat's account.
- Odd readings are held, not billed. A reading that goes down, or jumps, is held for review and raises an exception, the same as a typed reading.
- Your data stays yours. Disconnect at any time. The key is erased, and readings already collected stay in your records.
Usage is shown as a guide for billing, not as a bill.

What a marina needs
- EKM meters reporting to an EKM Push account
- An EKM Push key (Data Access in the EKM Push account); a key that is limited to the marina's meters is best
- A SlipSlate account
