Wire Gauge: For use on cable that is 700 MCM or smaller. It is best to measure your wire diameter in millimeters, rather than use the MCM wire size. This is because the insulation thickness varies materially from one wire manufacturer to the next. It is much better to oversize your CT than to undersize it.

Our Split Core (open-able) CTs can be a savings overall in the labor cost savings. Simply clip these around the wires being read. Secure them in place with a zip tie.

Our EKM Omnimeter can be set internally to be used with 400 amp CTs. If you do not plan to communicate with your Omnimeter, please be sure we set the CT ration to 400 amps for you.

  • Use 1 CT for 120 volt single phase North American, or 230 volt 2-wire foreign systems
  • Use 2 CTs for 120/240 volt single phase systems
  • Use 2 CTs for 3-phase 3-wire systems (no neutral)
  • Use 3 CTs for 3-phase 4-wire systems

These CTs come with wire leads that are 6 feet in length.

  • On a parallel circuit 800amp panel can you put a 400amp CT on each of the power wires?

    No, you would need to use 800A CTs for an 800A panel.

  • Does CT have to be set to exact amperage? What happens if the CT is not set to the same amperage?

    The CTs do not need to be set to the exact amperage of the system they are installed on. The should meet or exceed the amperage of the system. In other words, it is ok to oversize the CTs.
