Wire Gauge: For use on cable that is 300 MCM or smaller. It is best to measure your wire diameter in millimeters, rather than use the MCM wire size. This is because the insulation thickness varies materially from one wire manufacturer to the next. It is much better to oversize your CT than to undersize it.

Open-able Split Core CTs are sometimes much easier to install and can be an over all savings in labor costs over Solid Core CTs depending on the degree of difficulty of the installation.

These CTs are extremely accurate down to a few watts. They have 15,037 internal turns, creating a 26.6 mA output at full amperage(400A). They are also exceedingly precise at 0.1% accurate which makes them ideal for revenue-grade applications. Use these CTs for any system from under 1/4 amp to 400 amps.

  • Use 1 CT for 120 volt single phase North American, or 230 volt 2-wire foreign systems
  • Use 2 CTs for 120/240 volt single phase systems
  • Use 2 CTs for 3-phase 3-wire systems (no neutral)
  • Use 3 CTs for 3-phase 4-wire systems

Wires coming from the CTs are 2 meters in length. They can be extended but this may affect accuracy.

These CTs have received UL approval for use with our UL Listed Omnimeters to be a complete UL Listed installation.

Each CT has a unique serial number, is individually tested, and indicates the correct orientation of the CT in relation to the load of the electrical system being metered.

  • How close to each other can/should the CTs be installed? Is it ok if they touch each other? Do they need to be in a row? Distance from other phase?

    It is not a problem to have the CTs touching one another. They don't need to be installed in any specific row or orientation to the other CTs. The only important considerations are: you want the CT diameter to fit the wire they are installed on (they can be over-sized without any problem), the amperage rating of the CTs must meet or exceed the amperage rating of the electrical system, the arrow on the CT should point towards the load, and the CT leads should be installed in the correct ports on the Omnimeter, which depends on the wire they are installed on.

  • I require a Split Core CT that has a primary current of 400amps and secondary output less than 40ma. Can you please confirm if the SCT-23-400 CT requires any external circuitry or resistors for its secondary output rating of 26.6ma?

    Yes, I can confirm the the SCT-23-400 does NOT require any external circuitry or resistors for the secondary output of 26.6mA. None of our CTs require anything additional for their secondary output rating of 26.6mA. Here is the Spec Sheet for this current transformer.
