Wire Gauge: For use on wire that is 2 AWG or smaller. It is best to measure your wire diameter in millimeters, rather than use the AWG gauge. This is because the insulation thickness varies materially from one wire manufacturer to the next. It is much better to oversize your CT than to undersize it.

Our 13 mm Solid Core CT is both economical and very popular with our customers. It is very compact and can measure the current of the majority of residential systems. These CTs are designed to be used in conjunction with our Omnimeter line of kWh meters.

These CTs are extremely accurate down to a few watts. They have 7518 internal turns, creating a 26.6 mA output at full amperage. They are also exceedingly precise at 0.1% accurate. Use these CTs for any system from under 1/4 amp to 200 amps.

  • Use 1 CT for 120 volt single phase North American, or 230 volt 2-wire foreign systems
  • Use 2 CTs for 120/240 volt single phase systems
  • Use 2 CTs for 3-phase 3-wire systems (no neutral)
  • Use 3 CTs for 3-phase 4-wire systems

Each CT comes with 72 inch wire leads.

These CTs have received UL Approval for use in combination with our UL listed meters to be a complete UL Listed installation.

Each CT has a unique serial number, is individually tested, and indicates the correct orientation of the CT in relation to the load of the electrical system being metered.

  • What is the CT accuracy at the low end of its 26.6mA scale? If my circuit is drawing less than an amp, how accurate will the system be reporting the detection?

    To be clear, the 26.6mA is the secondary amperage (output) if the CT is installed on a wire that is reading 200A, in the case of this CT model. So this is the amperage that the meter would reference from the CT leads. The Omnimeter/CT combination is very accurate at low amperages but it would depend on how much less than 1 Amp the current is. At 0.5A it is accurate to within +/-1%. Below 0.5A it would still be accurate to a point but we don't have a accuracy % figure for that.

  • Will this CT work with DC?

    No, our meters and CTs are designed to work with AC only.

  • When sliding load line through the ct. Do you have to expose the wire portion where the ct goes? Or does the ct sit over the coated wire? The diameter is bigger than the wire. Do i have to make a connection to the unit?

    No, you do not need to expose the metal portion of the wire. The CT goes over the wire insulation and can be loosely fitted. It is better to have extra space for the CT to fit because if it is too tight you will need to replace the CT with a larger model. The CT does not make a direct connection to the load lines. The two CT wire leads connect to the Omnimeter that you are using to meter the load.
