Our remote readable 2.0" Stainless Steel Pulse Output Water Meters are a great solution for remotely, or locally, monitoring water consumption.

This is a well made, industrial grade, stainless steel (304 grade) water meter. You can use it as a traditional water meter where you read the water consumption off of the face of the meter. It also has the added functionality of being able to connect the pulse output wires to a pulse counting device. This meter produces a pulse for every 0.10ft³ (1 pulse = approx. 0.748 gal.) that flows by the meter, these pulses can be then picked up and counted by our pulse counting devices. The pulse output wires can be extended up to 10,000 ft.

Remote Water Reading:

This meter can tell you if you have a leak in your water system, because it only takes ~6.0 pints of water leakage to generate a pulse. In other words, if you see a pattern of pulses when you shouldn't (when you aren't intentionally using water) then you probably have a leak somewhere. The number of pulses over a given period of time will tell you how severe the leak is. Identifying and fixing water leaks can save a ton of money in water costs and overage fees, not to mention mitigating the damage that any leak can cause.

This pulse output water meter can be connected to our EKM-Omnimeter Pulse v.4, which is our new pulse input meter. This is our most advanced electric meter to date. This meter can count the pulse outputs from up to 3 pulse output devices. It can also control up to 2 external relays, which allows you to turn things on and off remotely.

This water meter, when connected to a v.4 Omnimeter, can send pulse data to the cloud with our EKM Push3 data system. The Push3 sends all of your meter data to our cloud database and inserts it into your personal account, where you can access it for free. In other words, with this system you can easily monitor water use, at an unlimited number of sites around the world, for free.


Encompass.io is our free online meter management platform for monitoring data, managing meters, generating bills, and more. It is designed specifically for people who are remotely reading their meters via the EKM Push3 system.     • What is the max pressure it can withstand (psi)?

      The maximum operating pressure of this meter model is 145 PSI.

    • What software is needed to read meter?

      I recommend that you read this support article to learn about our remote water meter metering system. It describes all of the products that are needed as well as the software options that are available.

    • What is the max flow rate that is supported?

      Maximum flow rate (Qs) for the meter model is 1059.44 ft³/hr.

    • Can your meter be installed on a vertical line?

      Our 2.0" water meters must be installed horizontally with the dials facing upwards. In order to install this meter on a vertical line, the line would need to jog horizontally for the inlet and outlet of the meter. Only our 3/4" Vertical Water Meter can be installed inline on vertical water lines.

    • The SPWM-200-CF water meter. What other costs are involved and hardware to have the water data broadcast to a wi-fi so I can review from home computer?

      The other products that are needed are an Omnimeter Pulse v.4 and an EKM Push gateway. If you need to connect to your WiFi network, and cannot hardwire the EKM Push to your internet router, you will also need a WiFi Bridge. This Article explains a little more about remote water metering.

    • Can this meter measure in m3?

      All of our water meters read in cubic feet. In order to convert cubic feet to cubic meters, you will need to multiply the readout of this meter by 0.0283. So for example, if the meter shows 100 cubic feet of usage, 100 x 0.0283 = 2.83 cubic meters.

    • For a 2\" meter, what is the minimum required length of straight pipe entering and leaving the pipe for accurate readings?

      A good rule of thumb for this is to have straight lengths of pipe on the inlet and outlet of the water meter that are 10x and 5x the diameter of the pipe, respectively. So for a 2.0" water meter you would have at least 20" of straight pipe before the water meter, and at least 10" of straight pipe after the water meter. 

    • What is the accuracy of your 1-1/2 and 2-inch water meters?

      The accuracy of our water meters depends on the flow rate of the water passing through them. The spec sheets for these water meters provide accuracy information, including an error curve on the second page.

      If the flow rate remains nominal then you should be able to expect at least 1–1.5% accuracy.

    • I am looking for a water meter for a well or a water meter that feeds into a cistern.

      Any of our water meters, if appropriately sized, can be used on a well or cistern feed. If there is particulate matter in the water then it is advisable to add a filter and/or vertical drop with a clean-out before the water meter. This will ensure that the particulate mater does not flow through the meter and negatively affect it's life span.

    • Are the meters certified lead-free?

      We have no certification stating that our water meters are lead free. However, I can tell you that they are. In fact, we decided to switch from brass to stainless steel meters in order to avoid the possibility of there being any lead content in the alloy. These meters are cast from stainless steel (304 grade), which has no lead content at all.

    • What does pulse output mean?

      Pulse output provides a way for water and gas meters to be read remotely. A magnet is placed on one of the meter's dials that closes a switch when the dial completes each revolution. The closing of the switch creates a "pulse" which can be counted by a pulse counting device such as our Omnimeter Pulse v.4 or 8 Digit Pulse Counter. In other words, the pulse output provides a way of converting the analog mechanism of the water meter into digital data.  In the case of this water meter, a pulse is generated for every 0.1 cubic feet of water that flows through the meter. This is because the magnet is placed on the dial that completes a revolution for every 0.1 cubic feet that flows through the meter.

    • I am looking for a metering system that can measure the output of a cistern that is supplied off a well. I would like to remotely monitor and get alerts when used. I'm not sure of the pipe size yet, though.

      Sounds good.  You can use our metering systems to get exactly what you need.  You would have one of our water meters measuring the output of the cistern, this water meter would be connected to an Omnimeter Pulse v.4 to count the pulses.  Then the Omnimeter Pulse v.4 would be connected to either a USB converter and a computer, or to an EKM Push3 gateway so you could get your data via the cloud.  You can setup the EKM Dash software to send you alerts in either case, or we are soon to release cloud based triggers with the EKM Push3 gateways, where the gateway itself would monitor your data then send you an alert if your metered values were outside of your specs.

    • Hi. In looking at your 2" stainless steel pulse output water meter, I'm trying to determine if it is compatible with an Inovonics EN1501 pulse meter transmitter. The specification for the EN1501 is that the pulse output cannot be faster than 1 pulse every 4 seconds. The info for your product states, "In the case of this water meter, a pulse is generated for every 0.1 cubic feet of water that flows through the meter. This is because the magnet is placed on the dial that completes a revolution for every 0.1 cubic feet that flows through the meter.” But the question I need to answer is how fast it pulses at high flow rates? Is that something you can help me with? Thanks - Scott

      Each Pulse from the 2.0" Water Meter represents 0.1 cubic feet of water measured.  The maximum Pulse input rate or your Inovonics unit is only 1 pulse per 4 seconds or 15 pulses per minute.  This equates to 1.5 cubic feet per minute or 90 cubic feet of water per hour.

      The overload flow of the 2.0" Water Meter is 1059.44 ft³/hr.  Unless you plan on only measuring 90 cubic feet of water per hour or less,  the pulse rate from the 2.0" Water Meter would be way to high for your Innovonics unit to handle.
