Do you ship to my country?:

More than likely, Yes! We ship to any country that USPS is able to go. We ship using USPS Priority Mail International

What are the questions I should ask in order to get the electric meter I need?:

Let us know your system amperage, the diameter of your wire in millimeters, if you want solid-core or split-core CTs, and also if you are going to want a basic meter, or a smart meter that you can read with your computer.

What is a smart meter?:

Smart meters are meters that have the ability to be read remotely. While most of the smart meters you may have heard about are installed and controlled by utility companies, our smart meters are intended for sub-metering purposes.

What is a sub-meter?:

Submeters are non-utility meters that can be used to divide an electric bill when multiple rental units share one utility meter. Each unit is given its own sub-meter which allows the landlord to bill their tenants according to their actual energy, water, or gas usage, instead of a flat monthly rate. This arrangement not only saves the landlord money, but is gives the tenant the ability to save money by conserving energy. Our experience has shown that energy use, and therefore electric bills, can drop by as much as 50%. Submeters are also great for monitoring solar PV and wind energy generation, as our meters log kWh, reverse kWh, and total kWh. This can help you better understand when electricity in coming from, or going into, the grid. Submeters are also used to meter individual circuits, machinery, pool pumps, electric vehicles, HVAC systems, as well as many other appliances and applications.

How accurate are your meters?

All of our metering products are considered revenue-grade. We have External CT meters that are 0.5% accurate when coupled with our high accuracy CTs and Internal CT meters (Pass-Through meters) that are 1% accurate. Our EKM-Omnimeter I v.3 has received California Type Approval by the California Department of Weights and Measures. It Certifies the meter's accuracy to be revenue-grade so that it can be used to calculate energy usage for billing purposes.

If my meter loses power will it retain its settings and meter reads?:

Yes, if your meter loses power during a power outage, it will retain all of it's meter reads and meter settings. When the power is restored the meter will pick up right where it left off.

What certifications have your meters received?:

Other than California Type Approval mentioned above, All of our meters have CE Certification and our EKM-Omnimeter II UL v.3 has received UL Listed certification.

Do you offer a warranty on your meters?:

We offer a 2 year replacement warranty on all of our products. Our EKM-Omnimeter II UL v.3 has a 10 year replacement warranty. If you are unsatisfied with your purchase for any reason, you can return it within 30 days for your money back. All of our policies are explained in detail in the footer under Customer Service.

What is Power Factor?:

Power Factor (or cos θ) is a measurement of the quality of the power. Some industrial utility customers are penalized if they negatively influence the Power Factor of the system.

A perfect Power Factor (1.00) is when the voltage sine wave and the amperage sine wave are in perfect alignment on top of each other. When the voltage and amperage sine waves are off of each other then you have less than perfect Power Factor. When voltage is leading amps it is considered leading (Inductive or L), when voltage is lagging amps it is considered lagging (Capacitive or C)

Energy in AC systems is actually measured as volts x amps x power factor = watts This is contrary to the commonly held perception that it is volts x amps = watts (this is only for DC systems, or AC systems with a perfect power factor of 1.)
