To clarify the ordering process, we have packaged together the individual metering products into a complete system specifically for your 3-Phase 3-Wire (3 hot and no neutral) electrical system. The products are separated into two categories: Required and Recommended.
How to Set Up and Order a Metering Package:
Required Items for a 3-Phase 3-Wire Metering System:
1x EKM Omnimeter: These are our universal kWh submeters that are capable of accurately and reliably metering any electrical system in the world. They are perfect for your 3-Phase 3-Wire (sometimes called 3 Phase Delta (Δ)) electrical system. These meters, in a 3-phase 3-wire configuration (no neutral), can handle up to 415 volts in a non-UL Listed installation.
2x Current Transformers: The Current Transformers (CTs) are the little doughnut shaped devices that go around the hot wires being read. For a 3-Phase 3-Wire system, the meter will only function properly if you have 2 of these. Which CTs are right for you will be determined by the diameter of your wires and the amperage of your electrical system.
Recommended Items for a 3-Phase 3-Wire Metering System:
1x EKM Push: This is the smart communication device that automatically sends your meter data to the cloud. The EKM Push works by simply connecting it to your meter(s) and internet router (no configuration needed). The device will instantly begin to send your meter data to your own EKM Push account.
1x EKM Dash: This is our desktop software interface for your EKM meter and EKM Push data. It will allow you to retrieve your EKM Push data and store your meter data on your own computer. You can change meter settings, schedule alerts and emails, export to CSV, and more, from within the EKM Dash software. You can use the EKM Dash with an unlimited number of meters in an unlimited number of locations around the world. No monthly or annual fees.
1x Meter Enclosure: You can either mount the Omnimeter in your own panel using a piece of DIN rail or use one of our water-tight or indoor enclosure kits.
1x USB Adapter: This versatile adapter allows you to connect your computer directly to your meter through your USB port. This is an optional connection that may not be necessary depending on your needs but it will allow you to read your meter directly with the EKM Dash, change meter settings, etc.
3x Fuse Holders w/ 1A Fuses: The fuse holder is mounted inline on the hot wire that taps into the main hot line and runs to your meter. Offers an additional layer of protection for your meter.
3x Piercing Connectors: Your meter needs a voltage reference from each line. The Insulation Piercing connectors allow you to simply connect the meter to each main line for the voltage reference and to power the meter itself.
Sticker Label Sheet: Will allow you to clearly label the CTs and all electrical, CT and communications wires.
50ft Cat5 Cable: This wire contains four shielded twisted pair wires. Only one of the twisted pair wires is required for the communications side of the metering. This is the wire that will be used to connect your meter to the EKM Push and/or the USB Adapter. If there are multiple meters in the system, they can be connected to each other in a daisy chain.
1x Ethernet Cable:: If You are planning to use the EKM Push system, you will need an Ethernet cable to connect the EKM Push box to your internet router.
Additional items you may need from your local electrical supplier:
4x Stranded Copper Wires: These are to tap into your hot lines and then run to your meter. This is most easily done in conjunction with the Piercing Connectors listed above. There is also 1 jumper wire between the hot line without a CT and neutral on the meter(see the red loop in the main image). We recommend you use 16 - 18 AWG wire.
Customize your metering package by choosing your products from the drop-down lists and check boxes above. If you would like to order additional products that aren't available in this package, please select them from the appropriate category of the Products Menu.
