To simplify the ordering process, we have bundled together our individual products into a complete metering and data package for your 3-Phase 4-Wire (3 hot and 1 neutral) electrical system. The products are separated into two categories: Required and Recommended.
Required Items for a 3-Phase 4-Wire Metering System:
1x EKM Omnimeter: These are our universal kWh meters that are capable of accurately and reliably metering any electrical system in the world. They are perfect for your 3-Phase 4-Wire electrical system (sometimes called 3 Phase WYE (Y)).
3x Current Transformers: The Current Transformers (CTs) are the little donut shaped devices that go around the hot wires being read. For a 3-Phase 4-Wire system, the meter will not function properly without THREE of these. To determine the CTs that are right for you, you will need to know the maximum amperage of your system and the wire outside diameter.
Recommended Items for a 3-Phase 4-Wire Metering System:
1x EKM Push: This is the revolutionary communication gateway and cloud service that makes your meter data easily accessible in the cloud. Simply connect the EKM Push gateway to your meter(s) and internet router. The EKM Push will instantly begin to read your meters and send your meter data to the cloud. There is no setup or configuration needed.
1x EKM Dash: This is our PC, Mac, and Linux software interface for your meter and Push data. The EKM Dash will allow you to monitor and store your meter data on your own computer. You can use it to change meter settings, schedule alerts and emails, export to CSV, and more. This software can be used with an unlimited number of meters. No monthly or annual fees.
1x Meter Enclosure: If you aren't mounting your meter in an existing panel or breaker box, we recommend you mount it in one of our water-tight or indoor enclosures.
1x USB Adapter: This powerful little converter allows you to connect your meter directly to a computer. This is an optional connection (recommended) that may not be necessary depending on your needs but it will allow you to read your meter directly with the EKM Dash, change meter settings, etc.
3x Fuse Holders w/ 1A Fuses: The fuse holder is mounted inline on the hot wires that tap into the main hot lines and run to your meter. They are intended to additionally protect your meter in case of a power surge or some other unforeseen anomaly.
4x Piercing Connectors: These will allow you to easily tap into your hot and neutral wires, and to run wires directly to your meter. These are the wires that power the meter and give it a voltage reference. These Piercing Connectors are optional but they can sometimes make installs easier.
Sticker Label Sheet: Will allow you to clearly label the CTs and all electrical, CT and communications wires.
50ft CAT5 Cable: This wire (used for RS485 communications) contains four twisted pairs of wire. Only one of the twisted pair wires is required for the communications side of the metering. This is the wire that will be used to connect your meter to the EKM Push and/or to the USB Adapter. If there are multiple meters in the system, they can be connected to each other in a daisy chain.
1x Ethernet Cable:: If You are planning to use the EKM Push system, you will need an Ethernet cable to connect the EKM Push box to your internet router.
Additional items you may need from your local electrical supplier:
4x Wires (16-18 AWG): Connect to the main hot and neutral lines and then connect them to your meter. This is most easily done in conjunction with the Piercing Connectors listed above.
